In 1980 the company moved back into Retail and bought a Garden Centre, which became one of the largest in the Midlands. However, over the last 10 years they have concentrated more on the Wholesale side and supply Garden Centre Chains, Independents and Shops, also supplying Growers to the Trade with Pot Compost and Young Plants. The Garden Centre was sold in 2000 to concentrate and expand the Wholesale Department. One of the largest growing parts of the business is Christmas Trees and Sundries. Hommers also specialise in Shrubs, Plants and Specimen Italian Plants. New and interesting stock arrives daily from our carefully selected European Suppliers. The current proprietors' Great Grandfather started growing Bulbs in Bevrwick Holland in the early 1900's. The founders son continued the Retail Business in England in 1946 with a small Nursery at the back of his house. The Business expanded and moved to larger premises - another move followed, into new premises, in the 1960's where the company remains. At this stage Hommers became a Wholesale Supplier of Bulbs and Garden Sundries.
